20th March 2020
We’ve read a lot of coaching and mentoring books over the years. Amongst some stuff and nonsense there are some real gems.
One of those books is ‘Who Moved My Cheese?’.
It’s a book everyone in business should read right now. In these uncharted waters where we don’t know what we don’t know, can’t anticipate what will happen next, and can’t see what ‘normal’ will be when it all goes away, we all need to embrace, and get the most from, change.
‘Who Moved My Cheese?’ is only a short book and follows the fortunes of Sniff, Scurry, Hem and Haw who live in a maze. They all love cheese. But when the cheese disappears, two of them head out to find it, while the other two complain and wait for the old cheese to return.
What it tells us is very important
• Change happens
• We should expect it
• We should anticipate it
• We should make the most of it
In the film ‘Shaun of the Dead’ our hero’s famous plan is “go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over”.
No one in business has the luxury of staying put. We have to anticipate that our own particular ‘cheese’ will not return so we have to go and do something about it.
Let’s Help You Find Your Cheese!
To help play our small part in helping each other find our ‘cheese’, Financial Marketing will be running a free regular marketing action learning session via conference call.
Called 3 on Thursday (as it is coincidentally going to happen at 3pm GMT every Thursday) it is an opportunity for us all to bring a marketing problem or challenge to the session for the group to discuss and work together to solve.
Small businesses are especially welcome and encouraged to join us.
There will be just ten places each time, given on a first come basis. You don’t need to declare your business or full identity – just simply along the lines of ‘I’m Joan and I have a recruitment business’
From there we will all help everyone in the (virtual) room go find their ‘cheese’.
If you are interested simply email us at info@financialmarketing.com and headline the email 3 on Thursday.
The Hitchhikers’ Guide To The Galaxy famously has the words “Don’t Panic’ on the cover in big friendly letters.
Sound advice.
Let’s not panic, and let’s help each other make the most of the changes happening to all of our lives.
Be safe
Be well
